Have you ever wanted to call your favourite animal? Well, here’s your chance…and yes, you will be using a banana phone!

We’re bananas with excitement to welcome back the brilliant Emily Hughes on Saturday 15th November at 2:30pm for a very special workshop at Nomad Books, to celebrate her beautiful illustrations for If You Make a Call on a Banana Phone.

Get ready for an afternoon of whimsical, wonderful, and wildly imaginative fun. Together with Emily, we’ll be making collages of the animals you would call on a banana phone. A bear in glasses? Go for it. A goat with a moustache? Why not! There are no rules in the banana-phone zoo. We will provide all the necessary items to bring your imagination to life.

Emily will be joining us not only for the workshop, but also to create a fantastic new window display. So be sure to keep your eyes (and bananas) peeled!

This quirky event is perfect for children aged 5-10 who love animals of all shapes and sizes – be it cats, dogs, dinosaurs, or dodos. Come join the fun and help us fill Nomad with a chorus of colourful creatures.

An Evening with Evie Harbury: A Storytelling Taste-Along!

Come and be transported to a Bohemian kitchen…

After the success of last month, we are excited to keep our evening events going with author and chef Evie Harbury! She will be joining us on Wednesday 26th November with her new cookbook, My Bohemian Kitchen – a beautiful nostalgic guide to modern Czech cooking.

What makes this event extra special is that alongside talking about her collection, Evie will be treating us to samples of her delicious cooking.

There you have it – Chez Nomad is open for business, for one night only!

Drawing on childhood memories and years spent cooking with friends and family in Czech kitchens, Evie captures the essence of a culture where food and hospitality go hand in hand. Her book is filled with evocative photography, historical notes, and simple, delicious recipes that welcome everyone to the table – whether you’re familiar with the region or not.

 We can’t wait to see the world of My Bohemian Kitchen be brough to life. It’s sure to be a special evening!
