Storytime with Jane Porter

It is time to announce our very first storytime of 2025, to start off what promises to be a year full of terrific tales and spectacular sketching!

We are very excited to be welcoming back the brilliant Jane Porter on Saturday 8th February at 11am. You may remember Jane from previous storytimes at Nomad Books – she never fails to bring energy and fabulous drawings to our morning!

Jane will be reading from her new picture book, Be Bold, Bob. Join us for a warm, kind and encouraging story about confidence and what friends can do to help. Bob is desperate to join in for a Big Show in the forest, but gets so nervous before he sings that his trunk gets all tangled up! Can his friend Paloma help him overcome his fears?

Jane’s reading will be followed by an interactive activity sheet.

Storytime with Rachel Tilda Wolf

We are very excited to host a morning of stories and crafty creations on Saturday 26th of April at 11am. Join us for an event with Rachel Tilda Wolf, where she will be reading from her wonderful new picture book, Wolf in the City.

Wolf longs to find her place in the city centre – and so sets off on the bus to do just that! Soon, she realises she is missing home…and finds out that her friends are missing her JUST as much. A warm and funny book with beautiful illustrations, where we explore the importance of feeling appreciated and the meaning of the word “home”.

After the reading, we will also have a chance to create lots of Wolf-y crafts that you can take home with you!

This event is suitable for 3+. There is no need to book – just come along.

Storytime with Mariajo Ilustrajo

We are looking forward to being treated to both a storytime AND a window illustration…

On Saturday 17th of May at 11am, award winning illustrator Mariajo Ilustrajo will be stopping by to celebrate the release of her latest picture book, Oh, Carrots!, with a very special storytime.

Throughout the day, Mariajo will also be busy painting a brand-new window display for us – which we cannot WAIT to see. You can see if you can spot scenes from the story you heard that very morning…

Workshop with Alice Melvin

We are thrilled to welcome back the amazing Alice Melvin for an afternoon of creative fun, following her super-successful visit last year.

Alice will be here on Saturday 14th of June at 2:30pm, sharing her artistic talents for a very special workshop in celebration of her latest release, Mouse by the Sea – the greatly anticipated sequel to Mouse on the River. If you missed out last time, now is your chance! And if you were here before – come and create another brand-new masterpiece.

Join Mouse on his summer holiday by the seaside. Each day brings new excitement, from sandcastles to sunbathing on the sand dunes and looking for treasures amongst the rock pools! You can also learn about the different wildlife that Mouse encounters.

Alice will also be painting a brand new window for us – which we can’t wait to see…

After the success of her fabulous visit last year, Momoko will be here to celebrate the release of her latest picture book – Dotty Doughnut : Being Yourself is Fabulous! – with a very special storytime and craft workshop.

Join the adorable Dotty Doughnut on a fun-filled adventure as she discovers that being true to yourself is the very best thing you can be! And then join us for a little creative session.

An Evening with E.A. Hanks

We’re back, and with a bang!

Join us for a very special night of conversation and storytelling with E.A. Hanks as we celebrate the UK launch of her debut memoir, The 10: A Memoir of Family and the Open Road, as we return with our first evening event in a while!

Over drinks and nibbles, Elizabeth will kick things off with a short reading from the book, before sitting down for a conversation about the story behind The Ten – a deeply personal journey inspired by her own solo road trip across the American Southwest. Retracing a route she once travelled with her mother, Elizabeth set out to better understand the complex woman who helped shape her life.

Expect a warm, engaging and thought-provoking discussion – we can’t wait to share it with you.

Books will be available to buy on the night, and Elizabeth will be signing copies.

Join us for an afternoon of excitement, imagination, and plenty of unexpected twists as author Emily Hawkins takes us into the swirling sands of The Pharaoh’s Curse – the fifth thrilling book in her Spin to Survive series!

Polish your finest compass and bring plenty of sunscreen* on Saturday 27th September at 2:30pm, when Emily will set the scene with a dramatic reading set deep in the Egyptian desert… and then the adventure is in your hands. As a group, you’ll make the big decisions together – solving puzzles, escaping danger, and uncovering ancient secrets along the way.

With the help of Emily’s famous pop-out spinner, we’ll find out what fate has in store. Who knows which way the story will turn?

We are very excited to be welcoming Sean Taylor and Fiona Woodcock to Nomad Books on Saturday 11th of October at 11am!

Join us for some story time fun to celebrate the release of Sean and Fiona’s new picture book, Five Little Friends; a one-of-a-kind interactive poetry collection.
