s to Nomad Books for an evening celebrating one of the greatest football
ers the world has ever seen: Pelé! And a little Fulham FC thrown in too
…\n\n\n\nOn Thursday 5th November\, we’ll be joined by acclaimed spo
rts journalist Andrew Downie for an in-conversation with former Fulham F
C player Les Strong for a very special event celebrating the publication
of Andrew's new book Epic: The Many Lives of Pelé.\n\n\n\nWidely regar
ded as one of the greatest footballers of all time\, Pelé led Brazil to
World Cup glory at just 17\, went on to win the tournament three times\
, and scored more than 1\,200 goals. But behind the extraordinary statis
tics was a much more complex man\, whose life extended far beyond the fo
otball pitch.\n\n\n\nIn Epic\, Andrew Downie draws on nearly eight years
of research and more than 250 interviews to reveal the man behind the l
egend. From Pelé’s childhood in Brazil and his incredible rise to int
ernational stardom\, this is the first complete biography to explore the
many sides of the footballing icon.\n\n\n\nAnd there’s a particularly
special local connection to this story! On 12th March 1973\, Pelé’s
Santos faced Fulham FC in a historic exhibition match at Craven Cottage\
, with Fulham winning 2–1. Within the conversation\, Andrew and Les wi
ll revisit this remarkable game\, sharing stories and insights into a fa
scinating moment in football history\, before opening the conversation u
 p to your questions.\n\n\n\nWhether you’re a lifelong football fan\, a
Fulham supporter\, or simply curious about an extraordinary life of a c
omplex man\, this promises to be a brilliant evening. We hope to see you
  there!\n\n\n\nDoors will open at 6:30pm\, for a 7pm start.\n\n\n\n Entr
y is free\, but RSVP for this event is essential\, as spaces are limited
. Email us at info@nomadbooks.co.uk to reserve a spot.
